Sayre to celebrate 87th Annual Alumni festivities

The Sayre Alumni committee wishes to welcome home all SHS alumni to the 87th annual alumni celebration with a full slate of activities planned for the weekend.  

   The activities begin Friday night at the old Sayre High School Gym with some good ole basketball.  Alumni can sign up to play in the odd year vs even year game at a cost of $10 per player with all proceeds going to The Sayre Eagles and Lady Eagles.  Spectators will enter free of charge and will find this a good place to visit with classmates and friends.   

   On Saturday morning, folks can make their way to the Broadway Center, 210 N. Broadway, where the Class of 2021 will be serving free donuts and coffee from 7 am to 9:00 am. The class will be accepting donations. Main Street will be the center of focus for the rest of the morning where there will be an Annual Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Bake Sale in the front of InterBank sponsored by Family and Friends of Camden Plummer, beginning at 9:30 am.  The parade lineup will start at 9:30 a.m. at the county fair barn. There will be a table set up for parade registration where entries will get their numbers for placement in the parade. The highlight of the morning will be to see Main Street packed with alumni and patrons catching up on old times and waiting for the Alumni Parade which will begin at 10:30 a.m.

   Following the parade, the Sayre After Prom committee will be serving lunch beginning at 11:30 and serving until 3:00 pm at the county activity barn.  There, folks can enjoy a great meal of pulled pork, sausage, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, dessert and drink that is serving a wonderful cause.  The cost is $12 per adult and $6 for kids five to 10 with four and under free of charge.  

    The Annual Alumni Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm.  This is an 18-hole two person team scramble event with an entry fee of $100 per team.  The tournament is limited to 36 teams so those wishing to enter should do so as soon as possible by contacting Ginger Reese at 580-649-2712.  The tournament will be flighted with a 70% payback and special prizes including a 2019 Ford Mustang for the first hole-in-one on a selected par 3 sponsored by Great Plains Bank and provided by Doug Gray Ford.  Players do not have to be an alumni to participate.  Free hot dogs will be available all day at the tournament.  Carts may be reserved at the Sayre Golf Course by calling 580-928-9046.  Tournament proceeds go to the Alumni Scholarship Fund.

   The annual alumni softball games will begin at 2:00 pm. at the school softball field.

    The much anticipated Easter Egg Hunt, which will be held at the Sayre football stadium, will beginning at 3 pm SHARP.  Participants are reminded to be in place early.   There will be over 6,000 candy filled Easter eggs for all the kids to enjoy and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures afterwards....
